I was honored to be interviewed by Katie. We talked about writing strong female characters, marketing, and I even had to go it alone for a bit when Katie’s internet died for a time. Below is the transcript of the first few minutes. Watch the video for the full interview.
The Interview
Katie: “Hey, welcome to the Wet Stuff Podcast. We are here with Sonja Dewing. She’s an author. She’s been on so many adventures. We’re going to talk to her about her life’s adventures and what got her into writing. The whole Shibang. Thank you for joining us Sonja.”
Sonja: “I’m excited and I’m honored. You’re (Katie) such an awesome artist. I appreciate you inviting me here.”
Katie: “Thank you. It’s great to have you. So, Sonja those who aren’t familiar with your work, just give us a brief little clip on what you’ve done and what you’re working on.”
Sonja: “Well, my main work for writing is i have a series of novels. My Idle maker series, strong female characters, mystery/adventure. The first in the series is Toy of the Gods. I’m also a publisher so I run a company called Plot Duckies, and my newest company is the Women’s Thriller Writers Association where I help writers write strong female characters in thrillers.”
Strong female characters
Katie: “That’s awesome. So, let’s talk a little about strong female characters. I really want to head in that direction first just because it really drives me bonkers when I start reading a book, like I got this book. I was really excited to start reading it and I got so frustrated because the main character was a woman, but she was written like she was hollow. She was sort of this, she didn’t have her own mind. I couldn’t finish it.”
