From Cusco, Peru to Lima, Peru
Watching paragliders in Lima |
We hopped a flight to Lima and spent a day relaxing – we needed it after all our walking in and around Cusco. We checked into a different hostel this time, still in the Miraflores area. Miraflores House for 110 Soles per night – a private room with private bath. I like this hostel because it isn’t right off of a busy street, so less noise. It’s in a business area, but not far from everything we want to see. Plus, after I had made the reservation they sent a very helpful email about how to find it and other tips.
We walked down to the coast, watched people paragliding, then decided to see a movie. We picked a movie we figured would be easy to know what’s going on whether in English or Spanish. You can’t go wrong with an action flick and lucky for us, A Good Day to Die Hard was being shown in English with Spanish subtitles.
Lima, Peru to Panama City, Panama
At the coffee shop – fell in love with the fixtures |
In Lima, we checked into the Los Mostros hostel again, mainly because it’s in the perfect location for walking around. Rebecca really wanted to walk all the way to Casco Viejo. It was a long hot walk, but we did make it. And we found the best little coffee shop. Casa Sucre Coffeehouse, we sure know how to find them! It feels strange, outside the partially revitalized neighborhood of old buildings, in here it feels like your favorite coffee shop from home.
Casco Viejo area |
We had a heck of a time finding a taxi cab to leave. We felt like such experts stepping out to wave down an empty cab, but they all turned out to be busy. Yep, some experts. So, if you are here, find a street the cabs are using to exit the old town in order to find one that’s available.
Tomorrow, on to Costa Rica
We’ve arranged for the Surf school to come pick us up at the San Jose airport and we’ll be taken straight to Dominical, Costa Rica. I can’t wait to learn how to surf!
